Say No To Garden Grabbers
Demonstration outside Parliament to back the Bill to stop Garden Grabbing

A few months ago we discovered that several of our neighbours were planning to sell their gardens to a developer. We were horrified. The gardens back on to Green Belt, they are teeming with wildlife, they are a beautiful place for children to grow up in. We want it to stay like that. We don't want our area ruined. We are determined to stop it.
Talking to other people we discovered that this destruction is happening virtually everywhere. It's estimated that thirty thousand gardens are being concreted over each year.
Everywhere, developers are buying up houses with large gardens, knocking them down and cramming small estates or blocks of flats on to the land. All for the sake of a quick profit.
If you don't do anything, your town, your village could be disfigured and changed forever...
Losing that amount of green space is ruining the appearance of whole towns. It is having a devastating effect on the environment, children's health, wildlife and the quality of your life. New infrastructure is rarely provided for all these new homes leaving too many people chasing inadequate health facilities, schools and transport links. Developers, encouraged by central government, are submitting ever more outrageous plans with no respect for the neighbourhood or care as to what mess they leave behind.
The Government considers gardens to be "brownfield "sites and right for building on. That is a nonsense. True brownfield sites are redundant industrial land, unwanted commercial sites, the kind of land that has been used before and can be built on without doing harm. Not our green and pleasant gardens.
If, like us, you want to protect your area from developers, don't stand back and let it happen. Join our campaign. As individuals we have no power. As a group helping each other we may have some influence.
Our aim is to create a site where anyone who has a potential problem with developers can get help. If you tell us about the threat we will post the details on the site. If you want advice we will try and provide it or,if we can't, steer you towards someone else who might be able to.
If you simply want to show your support for our campaign click on "Join Us" and fill in the details.
If your road is under threat click "Contact us" to tell us about it. We've just begun this site and we're keen to add as much accurate information as we can about threats across Tandridge.
